Layers of Stairs

The pastor at Mountain View Trinity United Methodist Church called his church the "Hogwarts" of Butte because of the many staircases going in every which way. I would agree....there are a lot of stairs. This is a view from the stairs up to the balcony down to the sanctuary.

I took this photo during the annual Stained Glass Tour put on by CPR (Butte Citizens for Preservation and Revitalization). It was interesting learning about the history of Butte's stained glass as well as the history of Butte. We went to four beautiful churches.

After the stairs, the churches are as following: St. Marks Lutheran Church, Mountain View Trinity United Methodist Church and St. John's Episcopal Church.

Old Rocker Fire Truck

This fire truck from the Rocker Fire Department was donated to the Piccadilly Museum of Transportation here in Butte. It's an interesting old thing, and I especially like the design of the old key.

Stairs through mail slot

This is the stairs inside the Butte Pioneer's Club as seen through the mail slot. I've never heard of the club, nor have I noticed its sign outside on the west side of Montana Street.

Sword Fight

I was taking photos at the base of the Mt. Con Mine, off of Main St. near where the road is now blocked off for construction. I was taking photos of the sunset when I caught these two boys sword fighting with sticks. They caught me taking photos of them, and one of them said, "Hi Maam!" I asked them what they were doing and one of the boys said he was killing the other one...

Thsi is the kind of experience that makes BDP worth it. If I wasn't out and about taking photos I wouldn't have caught this moment.

Gone to Boise...

I was in Boise this past weekend, and will change it up a little by posting a few photos from there....More to come after 5 pm today...

Vacation Photos-Prison Museum in Boise, Idaho

I'm spending my vacation in Boise, Idaho to meet up with some college friends of mine. I figured I'd change it up a bit and add some out-of-town photos. Sure, it's Butte Daily Photo, but I can't be in Butte every day, so I figured I'd bring a bit of Idaho back to Butte. The first photo is a decorative heater, the second is an isolation cell (creepy, I was standing in it looking out) and the third is a photos in one of the cell blocks.

Sunset Railroad Tracks

These railroad tracks run parallel to the road directly north of the KXLF tower on S. Montana Street. The tracks are west of the tower by the equivalent to roughly two city blocks.

Unique Cleaners

Unique Cleaners is located on Main Street across the street from Butte High School. The signage is interesting and so is the giant floral-print wallpaper inside. Apperently it was the first woman-owned business in Montana.

This is the Park Street Laundromat at around 9:15 PM. I love teh old machines!

Photography Full Time

I'm finally in the position financially to pursue photography full-time, without a day job, a side job or anything in between. Two weeks ago I announced my resignation from Copier Doctors and gave them 4-weeks notice. As of today, there are two weeks left.

I have been becoming busier by the week since January with weddings, engagement sessions, portraits, print sales and other photographic opportunities. I work 8-5 at Copier Doctors and then work nights on BDP and photography.

I am excited to have more time for photography and BDP, and hope to be able to take BDP up a notch or two at that time. Hopefully that will mean fewer cell phone images as postings!

Delmo Lake

It was a beautiful day out today. It would have been a shame NOT to have spent it outside. Delmo Lake had quite a bit of traffic even though the camp ground was closed. There were a few tents pitched near the road and others fishing or just enjoying the picnic tables.

I believe Delmo is the closest lake to Butte (besides Homestake Lake which is more like a puddle, and Acid Lake which is part of Montana Resources).

Camera Phone Images at the Mai Wah

All I had was my cell phone, so here are a few images with its little bitty camera, unedited. I will definitely go back one day with my other camera! The lighting is nice through the windows when the sun is going down, and there are some very interesting things...The old noodle parlor kitchen will be fun to shoot with a tripod and maybe some flashlights...

Butte Recycling

Butte Recycling is on Arizona Street near Butte High School. It is part of AWARE.

Welcome to my Future Studio...

It needs some heavy-duty cleaning and a ton of stuff thrown away for this to work, but it will be great when that's all done! Hopefully in the next couple of weeks this place will be ready.

St. Pat's Catholic Church

I took photos of St. Pat's again as I scouted out good areas to shoot from for the wedding of Benny and Julie West. St. Pat's is beautiful inside.

Dreary Hallway

I am shooting a wedding tomorrow at St. Patrick's Catholic Church tomorrow and decided to go early to figure out some creative portrait locations of the bride and groom. I found this hallway.

Hopefully I'll get some more good photos of the church tomorrow before the wedding.
