North of Walkerville

This photo was taken north of Walkerville during an engagement session of Cory and Carlyn. You can see a few of the engagement session photos below. They are getting married September 19th, and I'm looking forward to taking the photos for that!

Trestle

More Thanks...

I racked my brain the other day when I made my list of people to thank, and thought I made sure I didn't leave anybody out. However, I realized I forgot to thank the Uptown Cafe. Without them, there would be no show. It's a great location to show photos with a delicious menu.

I also forgot to thank Tim and Will for working on the frames.

Snow on Tree

This is a long exposure, causing the snow to blur in the street light. April snow brings may flowers?

Uptown Cafe art featuring BDP

All of the photos hanging at the uptown are from Butte Daily Photo. Many have stained glass in the corners and sides, and all are framed in re-finished old windows.

The photos will be up until the end of June.

Thanks to:
Robert Edwards for hours and hours and hours of work on the frames and hanging
CPR (Butte Citizens for Preservation and Revitalization) for the inexpensive old windows
Silverbow Properties for use of their shop and tools
Nicole von Goza from Uptown Glass Works for the last-minute stained glass
Quilicy Glass for the last-minute glass cutting
My mother for helping clean glass and hang

Everyone else that helped.

Late Posts

Butte Daily Photo is about a week behind as far as posts go! I have been taking the photos, but just haven't had the time or patience to get them online. I have been insanely busy the past two weeks getting a show ready...Look at my next post and you'll see part of what I hung at the uptown. Between picking the frames, stripping the paint/varnish off, stripping the paint again (and again, and again, and again), getting glass and getting them painted, I didn't have any time for much else.

All the work was worth it though.

Between all of that work and my wireless internet not working on my laptop (a setting was wrong), I didn't get the chance to post. BDP suffered for that, but everything should be back to normal now!

One Year - BDP April 13, 2008 to April 13, 2009

video

It's hard to beleive it's been one year since the start of Butte Daily Photo...I will continue to take and post photos daily...There's a lot I want to say, but will wait a few days to post it. Take a look at the slideshow above to see my favorite images of the year...I had to cut out a ton that I liked, and even more that I disliked!

Lutheran World Relief Quilts

Every year the women from St. Mark Lutheran Church make quilts that go around the world to the Lutheran World Relief. They donate their time and materials to make this happen. This year eight women made 30 quilts. This was a last minute photo my mom requested. I wish I could have gotten all eight women in the photo but only four could make it.

From left to right: Dorothy Huhtanen, Mary Patton, Mary Engebrecht and Eileen Hyslop. The women not in the photo are Gaye Evans, Carol Leach, Donna McInerney and Gina Pohl.

Old Oven Dials

Brian, the owner of the Silver Dollar, and his wife Melissa, recently purchased an old banquet hall building in Walkerville. They are fixing it up to be used as a banquet/reception hall in the future. This old oven was in the building. You can see my reflection above the middle dial.

East Ridge Train Trestle

This is the train trestle on the East Ridge. Me, Robert and his dog Billy Bob (shown below) hiked to it but decided not to cross since Billy Bob gets nervous trying to cross.

St. Pat's Cemetery

St. Pat's Cemetery at the bottom of Montana St. has some beautiful head stones. This particular one was of an angel kneeling at a cross and touching the picture of what I think is the person buried in that plot. Unfortunately part of the arms, wings and hands are broken off. One of the photos below shows the pieces of stone laying on the grave.

Jewish Synagogue at Night

This is the Jewish Synagogue up on Silver Street. It's a beautiful temple. I'm curious as to what it looks like inside.

Rock Above Butte

I was driving down from near the Mt. Con Mine (top of Main Street) and saw a nice view of the city. I put my parking break on, jumped out and flashed the foreground with my flash.

Gate at Anaconda Road

This is the gate they put up at night in front of Anaconda Road. I have never been past that gate, but have noticed the gate is open during the day. there is a little hut to the right of it where it looks like somebody could allow/disallow entry. I'm not sure if it they have someone there deciding who goes in and out.

Funky Little Shack

Last week I took a photo of the barn-looking-shack next to this little house. The entrance is in the alley that runs parallel to Washington St. It's near the hospital as well.

The run-down place has boarded up windows and broken glass above the door (as seen in the first photo), but seems like it may have been quite the quaint little cottage.

The photo with the shopping cart is to the right of the house, looking towards the house behind it. That house looks abandoned, but from Washington Street it looks like people live in it.
